Welcome to the Power Electronics Systems and Informatics Laboratory (PESIL) at the University of British Columbia (UBC)!

Our long-term research mission aims to develop advanced operation strategies as well as power electronics technologies to enable power-electronics-based power grids, such as HVDC/AC transmission systems and AC/DC microgrids, for the large-scale integration of modern energy resources/loads and the modernization of the legacy electric power systems.

In particular, we are currently working on the following topics:

• Grid-forming and grid-following converter controls
• Cyber-security in power electronics systems
• Solid-state circuit breakers
